Activities of ASVAFER

The latest activity has been the 16th railway exhibition from 8th to 16th of September 2007. This exhibition is made once a year at the same time that the Fair and Holiday of San Lorenzo Virgin of Valladolid. During this exhibition the social place is open to the public and we show the models and the real equipment that we have got. The last exhibitions have been visited by more than 5,000 people. In the year 2004 there were more than 7,500.

In the last years we have organized exhibitions in order that people of Valladolid could know the Depot of Locomotives of Valladolid , which was pioneer and unique in Spain. Nowadays the most important was the participation in the 5 th. Fair of Art and Restauration of Heritage (AR&PA), where ASVAFER divulged its activities of preservation of the Historic Railway Heritage.

During the year 2006 ASVAFER has also celebrated 150 anniversary of the concession of railway in Valladolid with some conferences. It also showed railway cinema between 20th and 24th March collaborating with the Valladolid International Film Festival and Demarcation of Castilla y León of the Association of Engineers of Roads, Channels and Ports.

We have several plans like the promotion of turistic railways (Ribera de Duero Train), to build a Railway Museum in Valladolid, etc. We are restoring some historic railway equipment to make these plans.

We have got some machinery to develop activities related with Driven Models and we are looking for some depot in Valladolid or its surroundings to build a circuit where we can run Driven Models, which is a very popular activity in many places of Spain.

Our Association also has collaborated in four scale G railway circuits in Parque Temático del Mudéjar de Olmedo, which we recommend to visit. (see the photograph).
